Christa Moering was a German painter and gallery owner.
She attended the School of Applied Arts in Stettin, where the painter Vincent Weber was one of her teachers. Further study visits took her to Leipzig, Berlin and Frankfurt am Main. She married the painter Alo Altripp and came to Wiesbaden in 1942.
Through the artists’ group 50, founded by Christa Moering in 1950, Lisa Kümmel, Hanna Bekker vom Rath, Ludwig Meidner, Ernst Wilhelm Nay, Hans Laabs, Karl Fred Dahmen and Bele Bachem became her artistic friends and acquaintances. In 1956 she opened her gallery in Martinstraße in Wiesbaden.
Christa Moering was made the 24th honorary citizen of the city of Wiesbaden on 21 March 1996. She also received the Citizen’s Medal in Silver and the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon (9 October 1978).
