The British artist Richard Hartwell studied art in Cambridge, London (Royal College of Art) and Hamburg (Staatliche Hochschule für bildende Künste).
Since 1968 he has had numerous solo, group and special exhibitions. The focus of his work is on painting, drawing, object, photography, text and sound.
The question of perception and visual representation has occupied (Richard Hartwell) since the early 1970s.
Already at that time, he critically examined the visual languages, the encoding methods and the socio-political influences of the mass media. The work “Newspaper” represents this exploration of the connections between word and image.
Hartwell works and lives in Zurich.
