Anna Kathrin Kleeberg already took lessons in applied art from 1986 to 1989, among others with Rüdiger Phillip Bruhn, Detlev Bach. From 1989 to 1990 she was taught the basics of painting and graphics by Carsten Nicolai and is a design assistant in graphics and photography with Katrin Lenk (e.o. Plauen). In 1999 she studied stage design and painting at the Berlin Weißensee State Academy of Art and the UDK. Among others, she worked with Otmar Alt, for whom she also realised complete productions. She graduates in 2005 as a stage and costume designer.
In the same year, Anna Kathrin Kleeberg comes to Düsseldorf to work with Jörg Immendorff – not as a student, but as a salaried assistant and works there seven days a week. Anna Kleeberg deepened numerous artistic techniques, mixing, dealing with colours, composing and placing pictorial elements. After Immendorff’s death at the end of May 2007, she remains in Düsseldorf and continues to work as a freelance artist.
In 2008, Anna Kathrin Kleeberg was awarded the Vöver sponsorship prize. The artist is presented in numerous group and solo exhibitions. Among others in Berlin, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Leipzig, Hamburg. In 2009 she created her first bronze, the flying fox. In 2013, she created the large bronze edition “Fluggedanke”, exclusively for KunstKontor, for which the artist also created a graphic.
2017 – participant on documenta 14, creating the bronze busts “Sternsucher” (Star Seekers) from the cycle “Venusflug” (Venus Flight). 2018 – at the Biennale Santa Severino/Italy.
