Phillipe Daron, artist name also “Daspremont”, was born in Belgium in 1951. He began drawing at a young age and devoted himself entirely to painting after leaving school. His earliest works date from the late sixties. In 1970, he created a series of female nudes that place him in the Neo Pop movement that was forming at the time.
Following the decline of abstract expressionism of the 1950s and the Pop Art that was forming during this period, Neo Pop art placed its focus on bright colors, clean lines, and addressed ironically tinged artistic genres and social issues such as consumerism, sexuality, and the media.
Daron belongs to the avant-garde of this Neo Pop Art and consistently continues this art movement, which is very sparsely represented in Germany. The expressive, figurative painting of Phillipe Daron is presented in numerous exhibitions to a ready audience. Hereby he belongs art-historically to the few artists of this genre, to which in Germany also Heinz te Laake belongs. Internationally, the artist’s work is comparable to the international artists Romero Britto, Otto Mühl, James Rizzi.
His work is extraordinary and the artist due to the currently still little documentation a to be discovered Pop Art painter of the last century.
